This document is intended to support environmental improvement efforts of all actors in the construction sector (based on EMAS regulation). The document covers the whole value added chain of the construction sector, from land planning to the building end of life (the economical life cycle) and from selection of best environmentally friendly materials to waste treatment and recycling and reuse cycles. This document is not only for EMAS registered organisations but for all actors in the sector with or without a certified or registered environmental management system. The heart of the document is the 'Best environmental management practices' (BEMPs) description. Chapter 7 is here of particular importance, since it tackles aspects related to buildings deconstruction at the end of their life cycle.
